New York shouldn't have to emulate the west coast as "Silicon Alley". It can build on its own strengths - and it does! The city's reputation as a media and financial hub often overshadows a very healthy tech community. We've got investment capital down on Wall Street and customers over on Madison Ave. No where else do you have this concentration of elements for powering the web. As the web continues to mature into a "legitimate" medium, especially for advertising, Silicon Alley will be THE place to launch a startup.
